What is Gluten?

Gluten is a protein found in grains that include Wheat, Rye, Oats & Barley.
Those with Coeliac disease have a permanent intolerance to gluten as it damages the lining of the small bowel, which can then affect the absorption of food.

A strict Gluten Free diet is the only long term treatment for coeliac disease.
Complete removal of gluten from the diet for a period of time will allow the gut to recover.
Beware!… The smallest amounts of gluten can halt recovery or further the damage even if symptoms are not obvious.
